Boxing Canada is proud to announce that the biggest Olympic boxing competition in Canada, 2019 Super Channel Championships, is being hosted by Boxing BC in Langford this week, April 23 to 27.
This comes on the heels of a much-anticipated return to Western Canada in 2018. Following the success of the unification of the Elite, Youth and Junior categories in 2016, this national sporting event is ready to rumble again, this time at the Westin Bear Mountain Resort Community in Langford.
“The team and I are very happy to help support the event and be home to these amazing athletes for the week,” said Brian Harrington, General Manager, Westin Bear Mountain Resort.
Several Boxing BC participants were arriving at the Victoria International Airport on Easter Monday, one day ahead of the event. Boxing BC President Ryan O’Shea was on hand to greet boxers as they got off the plane. A Boxing BC information table was set up in the airport arrivals area.
Tickets for afternoon/evening or the full week are available online and at the door:
• PRE-SALE – Afternoon: $20 / Evening $25 / Day: $40 / Youth (15 years and less): $15 / Family: $50 / Week: $140
• AT THE DOOR – Afternoon: $25 / Evening $30 / Day: $50 / Youth (15 years and less): $15 / Family: $60 / Week: $150
The host organizer Boxing BC has several partners to help pull off this event: Government of Canada, Sting, City of Langford, Province of BC, ViaSportBC, and Bear Mountain Resort Community.
“Langford is rebranding itself as a sports tourism destination,” says Langford Mayor Stew Young. “This boxing event is just one of many events to come,” he says.
Bear Mountain is also home to Golf Canada’s National Junior Squad and the High Performance Training Centre for Cycling Canada’s National Mountain Bike Team.
Langford is home to the new Pacific FC pro soccer team and Rugby Canada, both of which play out of Westhills Stadium, and also the Victoria Shamrocks which plays at the Q Centre in the west shore.
A number of the bigger events at Westhills Stadium will include concerts and some will even have fireworks at nightfall.
Live Streaming will be available free on Boxing Canada’s YouTube Channel.
