The second annual Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society photo contest is underway. The deadline to submit your entries is April 30.
Selected photos will be featured in the organization’s 2023 print and digital calendar.
Winners will be announced May 15, 2022.
The contest is open to photographers, would-be photographers, or anyone who just likes the Sheringham Point Lighthouse or coastal life.
The Sheringham Point Lighthouse is a national heritage site located in Shirley (west of Sooke on the west coast of Vancouver Island).
How to participate:
You can help promote the Sheringham Point Lighthouse heritage site with the world by winning a spot in the 2023 Calendar celebrating Coastal Life in Canada. | Submit photos and review the contest rules
Enter the content and invite your friends and family to donate in support of your amazing photograph. The 13 most dynamic photographs with the most votes at 11:59:59 PM (Pacific Time) on Saturday, April 30, 2022 will win a spot in the 2023 Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society Calendar.
Photos will be placed as one with each of the 12 months and also one on the cover.
This year there is also a 14 years and under prize!
Contest fee:
An entry fee of $5 is charged for each photograph and you can submit as many photographs as you want. There is also a donate-to-vote option for a People’s Choice Award.
Types of photos:
- Photographs may show fun and interesting scenes of a lighthouse, lighthouse life, natural lighthouse habitat and adaptations of what a lighthouse might look like from different perspectives.
- Photos should depict coastal & landscape images, likenesses of the Sheringham Point Lighthouse or other lighthouses, new or older photos.
- Photos can include your pets and celebrate and highlight the beauty, majesty and iconic history of the Sheringham Point Heritage Site and life on the coast.
- Photos with people are welcomed as long as facial features are not shown.
