There was a collision of a BMW into a Honda which led to impact of a cyclist on Wednesday January 8 in the west shore.

West Shore RCMP says that at about 5:50 pm that evening that front line officers responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist near the 2100-block of Sooke Road in Colwood (that’s approximately mid-way between the Royal Roads University entrance and Kelly Road).

Police arrived on scene and learnt that a 2007 BMW was travelling westbound on Sooke Road when it rear-ended a 2016 Honda Pilot which is a three-row SUV. The BMW then drove around the SUV and crashed into a cyclist, said RCMP in a release on Friday.

The driver of the BMW was a 48-year-old woman. She was arrested for impaired driving. Police believe she was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the collision.

“She was issued a prohibition from driving, her licence was seized and the vehicle was towed,” says Cpl Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP in the news release.

The investigation is still on going and impaired driving charges are pending the results of the investigation. RCMP say the cyclist was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
