The 2024 Sooke Silver Bells Parade is coming up on Sunday December 8. On a new route!
For many years the parade has made its way down ‘main street’ which is actually provincial Highway 14. That required a two-hour detour for highway traffic.
For the first time, the Sooke Silver Bells holiday parade (aka Sooke Santa Parade) will run along Throup Road, Church Road and Wadams Way.
Wadams Way runs parallel to Highway 14 but provides the opportunity to use the new Sooke Library as a gathering place for families and kids activities before and after the parade.
The event is organized by the Sooke Lions and the District of Sooke.
Event details:
Family fun begins at the Sooke Library at 6671 Wadams Way at 4 pm.
- Warm Food & Drink: Sooke Lions and EMCS Leadership team are serving hot chocolate, hot dogs and cookies, both before and after the parade.
- Photos with Santa up to 4:30 pm (then Santa goes to join the parade)
- Christmas Crafting Station
- Childrens Choir will entertain prior to the parade arriving.
- Parade begins moving at 5 pm.
Parade route:
Starting at 5 pm, the Sooke Silver Bells (Santa) Parade will run from Journey Middle School, along Throup Road to Church Road to Wadams Way.
The parade will conclude at the Sooke Library — the activity hub for before-and-after family activities.
There will be road closures from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm to allow for a safe parade route.
Weather forecast:
The weather forecast for the days leading up to the day before the parade presently shows a 60% chance of showers and a temperature of about 6°C at night under cloudy skies.
