Things shifted at the Town of View Royal council meeting on July 2, 2025.
The start time for all Council and Committee of the Whole meetings has been changed to 6 pm, with the adoption of Procedure Bylaw No. 677, 2007, Amendment Bylaw No. 1155, 2025.
- Council meetings previously started at 7 pm.
- Committee of the Whole Meetings previously started at 3:30 pm which conflicted with daytime commitments for many members of the public.
With these changes, Council hopes to reduce barriers to public participation in local government and encourage more residents to consider running for office in the 2026 municipal election.

Effective immediately:
The new meeting times take effect immediately.
Upcoming meetings:
Upcoming Town of View Royal meeting dates and agendas are posted on the municipality’s website.
The next few meetings include:
- Committee of the Whole – Tues July 8, 2025 – 6 pm (then a summer break, until next committee of the whole meeting on Tues September 9)
- Council – Tues July 15, 2025 – 6 pm (then a summer break, until next council meeting on Tues September 2)
Consent Agenda:
The bylaw also introduces a formal Consent Agenda process, allowing routine and non-controversial items to be grouped and addressed in a single motion. This is aimed at streamlining meeting procedures while preserving transparency.
