On Wednesday evening March 26 around 7:56 pm, West Shore RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision near the 1400-block of Kangaroo Rd in Metchosin.
BC Hydro, BC Emergency Response and Metchosin Fire and Rescue attended the scene.

“Remarkably, no one was seriously injured in this incident<‘ says Cpl Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.
There was some rain around that time.
Officers observed a 2024 Grand Jeep Cherokee had driven off road and crashed into a hydro pole at this location. The driver who is identified as a 38-year-old woman was exhibiting signs of alcohol impairment, say RCMP.
RCMP officers proceeded with an impaired driving investigation and the driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition.
Vehicle impounded:
The driver’s Jeep was impounded for 30 days.
In BC, if a vehicle is impounded, there are fees for towing, storage, and possibly an impoundment fee. Costs range from about from around $250 for a seven-day impound to $850 for a 30-day impound, depending on the reason and duration
