Government House invites all who have attended a New Years Day Levée to share their favourite photographs and memories, in lieu of hosting an in-person event this year.

The annual event at Government House in Victoria has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to renovations being underway at Government House.

The New Years Day Levée has been a tradition among vice-regal houses since British Columbia entered Confederation in 1871. On the first day of the new year, Government House has opened its doors to friends, neighbours and visitors, and welcomes all for refreshments, music and camaraderie.

A panel of Government House representatives will choose a winning photo. The winner will enjoy a catered picnic lunch for two on the grounds of Government House (COVID-19 restrictions permitting).

Photos and memories can be submitted until January 4, 2021 at gh.communications@gov.bc.ca.

Highlights of the submissions will be posted on the Lieutenant Governor Blog.

A winner will be announced on the LG Blog on January 18, 2021.
