Over this upcoming BC Day long weekend there’s a fun event coming up at Westshore Town Centre in Langford.

Head to the air-conditioned mall and look for the retail space decorated in hot pink!

Raise the Woof is a designed space with dog-theme artwork on display. Some of it is interactive … like sitting on a dog sculpture for a photo-op by parent or grandparent.

It’s an opportunity to donate to RainCoast Dog Rescue in Victoria and maybe take home an art piece too!

Art donations:

Art has bidding prices from $15 to over $100, and can be “adopted” (taken home) after the August 6 completion of the show, says Kelly McClure, Marketing Director, Westshore Town Centre.

[Update August 8: The total donations raised for RainCoast Dog Rescue was $2,980.50.]

But meanwhile, families with young children are naturally flocking to the store — because it looks fun, and it is!

Space management:

The delightful upbeat space was interior-designed by Jodi Bryans and greeting guests during hours of operation yesterday was Tegan Crane, a local high school student. Other greeters will be in attendance this weekend, for a bit of part-time employment, including Aurora and Coral.

The organization and setup for this space took over six months, starting in January of this year, says Kelly McClure, Marketing Director, Westshore Town Centre, who pulled it all together.

Canada-wide event:

Raise the Woof at Westshore Town Centre is part of a number of ‘Air of Surprise’ events at QuadReal malls across the country this week, with interactive art installations and giveaways to ‘bring a sense of whimsical surprise’.

It’s something fun for families to easily do in these challenging times! It’s also a creative use of available leasing space in malls that are perhaps seeking more tenants in these challenging times.
