A visitor to BC has been confirmed to have measles and traaveled within Interior Health while infectious.
There are no measles cases in Interior Health at this time, says the Interior Health Authority in a statement this afternoon.
Interior Health says it is following up directly with individuals who are known to have been exposed, to complete their contract tracing.
“the risk to the broader public is considered low,” says Interior Health.
Anyone who was at the McDonalds Restaurant at 2110 Middletown Place in Sparwood, BC on June 8, 2025 between3 pm and 5:30 pm is to watch for symptoms.
If a person was exposed at that location on June 8 and as not been vaccinated against measles or is unsure about their measles vaccination status should call 1-855-549-6364 to speak with a communicable disease team. That advisory also applies to people who are immunocompromised, have an exposed child under age one year, or is pregnant.
Symptoms:
The symptoms of a measles infection include fever, cough, runny nose and red and inflamed eyes. That is follwoed by a rash which starts on the face and neck then spreads to the chest, arms and legs and lasts for three days.
If you think you have measles, call ahead to your doctor’s office or hospital so that plans can be made to prevent other people from potential exposure.
