The Mark Carney Liberal government has achieved a majority government, secured by winning three by-elections this evening.
The two ridings in Ontario and one in Quebec have pushed the number of Liberal seats to 174.

Inching toward a majority was also augmented by accepting five MPs from Opposition parties as floor-crossers (four from the Conservatives and one from the NDP) since November.

Election results by riding:
Final poll counts are in. These are the standings as of 10:05 pm PT.
- Terrebonne (Quebec) – Won by Tatiana Auguste (Liberal) with 48.4% of the vote, with 211 of 211 polls reported (at 9:18 pm PT). | Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagne (Bloc) came in second with 46.8% of the vote | Maxime Beaudoin (NDP) | Adrienne Charles (Conservative)
- Scarborough Southwest (Ontario) – Won by Doly Begum (Liberal) with 69.9% of the vote, with 188 of 188 polls reported at 8:23 pm PT. | Diana Filipova (Conservative) came in second with 18.4% of the vote. | Fatima Shaba (NDP) | Pooja Malhotra (Green)
- University–Rosedale (Ontario) – Won by Danielle Martin (Liberal) with 64.4% of the vote, with 183 of 153 polls reported at 9:35 pm. | Serena Purdy (NDP) came in second with 18.9%. | Don Hodgson (Conservative) | Andrew Massey (Green)
Order of wins:
The win in University-Rosedale was declared early by national media (based on Elections Canada numbers), and soon thereafter the win in Scarborough Southwest was declared.
Watching Terrebonne incoming results all evening was not unexpectedly a close race.
Terrebonne was won in April 2025 by one vote (though that result was annulled by the Supreme Court due to Elections Canada special mail ballot envelope errors).
