Glen Lake Spray Park is now open at 3076 Shoreview Drive.
The new spray park is located across the trail from the beach at Glen Lake Beach Park.
The former spray park had increasing maintenance issues in recent years due to its proximity to the beach, which often resulted in sand accumulation, making it challenging to use and maintain.
In response to community feedback and operational needs, the replacement project was approved as part of the City’s 2024 Parks Capital Budget.
A Request for Proposal was issued in July 2024 and Habitat Systems was awarded the project. Construction of the new park was completed last month after some seasonal weather delays.
The new spray park was designed with families in mind, offering a fun, safe, and inclusive space for children and people of all ages.
The concrete pad is accessible directly from the gravel path that leads to the playground and lake, ensuring easy access for everyone. The park includes a splash pad and picnic tables, perfect for family gatherings and activities.
The remodelling also involved the addition of a bio-swale designed by the project biologist to ensure compliance with environmental and health authority regulations, as well as to manage surface water runoff sustainably.
The park is conveniently located, with parking for both vehicles and bikes and nearby connections to public transit.
Nestled in the heart of Glen Lake Beach Park, residents and visitors can also enjoy additional amenities, including a boat launch, fishing pier, sandy beach, walking trails, and open green space.
The City of Langford encourages residents and visitors to visit and enjoy the updated Glen Lake Spray Park.
Parks and Trails Master Plan:
The City of Langford is in the process of creating a Parks and Trails Master Plan that will determine how the current parks and trails system is meeting the needs of residents today, explore what could be enhanced, and plan for the future.
Once completed, the Plan will help guide decisions about acquiring, developing, enhancing, and managing the City’s parks and trails for the next 10 years and beyond.
