Thursday, November 22 ~ VICTORIA.

Elections BC is reminding voters that the deadline of midnight November 23, 2018 to request a voting package is fast approaching.

As of 8:20 am November 21, about 810,000 packages have been received by Elections BC (about 25% returned). This does not include packages that have been received by Canada Post but not yet transferred to Elections BC. The percentage of ballots screened (opened and processed) as of 8:20 am November 21 is 12.6%.

Eligible voters that haven’t received a voting package can ask for one:

  • Online: elections.bc.ca/ovr
  • By phone: 1-800-661-8683 (This week: Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m. to midnight)
  • In person: At a Service BC Centre or Referendum Service Office (find location and hours: elections.bc.ca/rso)

Completed voting packages must be received by 4:30 p.m. on November 30, 2018.

Elections BC is assessing the full impact of rotating strikes at Canada Post and is considering extending this deadline. Canada Post said this week that they have put extra resources toward delivery of ballot packages.

Regardless of whether or not the deadline is extended, Elections BC encourages voters to return their completed voting package as soon as possible.
