Canada Post said today November 20 that it delivered all Electoral Reform Referendum ballot packages by the November 2, 2018 deadline that was established by Elections BC.

“In terms of the return ballots there have been some delays due to the rotating strike activities by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers,” said Canada Post media relations in a statement today.

“However we are working very closely with Elections BC on these important mailings. We have dedicated extra resources to ensure we meet our commitment to our customer and to the residents of the province of British Columbia.”

As of 8:20 am this morning, November 20, a tally of 779,200 packages are estimated to have been received by Elections BC (about 24%). This does not include packages that have been received by Canada Post but not yet transferred to Elections BC. About 11.4% of eligible ballots have been screened by Elections BC.

Completed ballots must be received by 4:30 pm on Friday November 30, 2018 in order to be processed by Elections BC. In order to meet that deadline, it is recommended that ballots be mailed by voters by Friday November 23.
