BC Premier David Eby was going to hold a media availability with remote access early tomorrow morning before heading to Washington, DC.
But due to a forecast of inclement weather, tomorrow’s media availability will instead by held this evening (Monday February 10) at 6:45 pm Pacific Time.
There will be a livestream this evening but evidently no media dial-in. Likely the major TV stations will broadcast the session live.
AS IT HAPPENED: At the airport:
Eby’s media availability was held at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
He addressed questions from media who showed up at the airport for the suddenly rescheduled timeline.
Many of his positional messages were the same, i.e.: “There is no need for this fight” | “We’re not going to roll over on this stuff.” | “We will never go back to the way that we were before.”
What will now be a two or three day visit in the US capital by Premier Eby will include meetings with US lawmakers and leaders in business and labour.

Eby said this evening that meetings with Republicans are important to articulate how tariffs would be “mutually assured damage”. Meeting with Democrats will be to help provide those leaders with information in the event they are being pressured to support the tariffs being imposed by US President Donald Trump.
He reminded tonight’s livestream viewers and media that BC will be fast tracking major industrial projects, sorting out permitting issues, and working to diversity markets including across Canada so that “we can trade easily with ourselves”.
All premiers heading to Washington:
As members of the Council of the Federation, all of Canada’s provincial and territorial premiers are travelling to the United States to speak with lawmakers as well as business and labour leaders regarding trade and tariffs.
The February 11 and 12 trip by premiers to the US capital has been planned for several weeks now.
It’s part of the ‘team Canada’ approach to protect Canada’s interests against President Trump’s economic warfare against this country.
