Over 30 businesses, agencies and organizations offered information about employment opportunities in the west shore and Greater Victoria area at a job fair in Langford today.
The event was organized by a full contingent of staff from WorkBC – Westshore, from 1 to 5 pm at the Langford Legion.
Job-seekers came prepared with resumes and questions.
On hand for job-seekers to meet were representatives about paid and volunteer positions from:
- Acera Insurance, ACGN Electric;
- Baptist Housing Seniors Living, BC Assessment, BC Transit, Butler Concrete & Aggregate, BC Ferries, Bauco Access Panel Solutions;
- Camosun College, Canadian Armed Forces;
- First Student Victoria;
- Great Start Canada Immigration & Recruitment,
- H & R Block;
- Indigenous Perspectives Society, Intercultural Association of Greater Victoria, Island Health;
- McDonalds Langford;
- Pacific Centre Family Services Association, Peninsula Co-op;
- Real Canadian Superstore, ReStore Habitat for Humanity, RLC Landscaping, Roofmart;
- Sea to Tree health & Wellness, Sooke Family Resource Centre, Sooke School District 62 (SD62);
- Westshore Parks & Recreation;
- Urban Food Resilience Initiatives Society;
- Victoria Native Friendship Centre;
- Walmart Langford.
Several of the vendors offered door prizes, organized by WorkBC staff.
WorkBC West Shore Executive Director Peter Doukakis says similar job fairs are held several times through the year.
