Today on Easter Sunday there was messaging from political leaders across the spectrum.
Provincial:
Premier David Eby said: “We reflect on the universal values of Christianity – peace, love, joy and kindness – and look for ways to incorporate those values into our daily lives.”
Premier Eby mentioned that he and his wife and kids would be doing a candy Easter egg hunt at home. “Easter’s message of hope for the brighter days ahead really resonates with me this year, as we emerge from the pandemic. Our government is committed to a British Columbia where everyone can build a good life, with strong connections to family and community.”

BC Liberal Leader Kevin Falcon said on Twitter: “May this special day be filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories with family and friends. Let’s take a moment to reflect on the blessings in our lives and spread kindness and compassion throughout our communities.” The BC Liberals will officially launch a name change to BC United, right after the Easter long weekend.
BC Greens Leader Sonia Furstenau said on Twitter: “May this joyous date be a reminder of the importance of unity, compassion and hope in building a brighter future for all.”
BC Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin notes that this is the two-year anniversary of the passing of The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. “His legacy lives on through his leadership, and the extraordinary Duke of Edinburgh program, which continues to inspire and support the development of young Canadians today,” said Austin on Twitter today.
Federal:

Separately, the Prime Minister noted that today is also Vimy Ridge Day which recognizes the 1917 battle in France where Canadian soldiers risked their lives for peace, freedom and justice during the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said today on Easter: “For many people in our country, this marks a moment for new beginnings, to celebrate the changing seasons, and a time of renewed hope for the future. Local:
Across the west shore of south Vancouver Island there were many locally-organized Easter egg hunts and other activities for families.
In Colwood hundreds of families arrived at Meadow Park to find candy in the grass and bushes.
The West Shore RCMP posted a simple greeting on Twitter.
