Strong gusting winds are in the weather forecast for Greater Victoria on this Easter Monday.
The forecast issued at 4:11 am today shows wind gusts of up to 70 km/h for the late afternoon, evening, and overnight into Tuesday morning.
And after such a lovely warm Easter Sunday (reaching 20°C in some parts of Greater Victoria yesterday, again the night temperature early Monday morning is cold due to a “vigorous cold front” that will cross the South Coast today.
That same pattern of warm days but cold nights continues for through this week. This presents some moderate challenges for food-growing gardens that have been planted in early spring, including that there is no rain in the forecast until Saturday.
Strong westerly winds gusting up to 70 km/h will develop in the wake of the front. The winds will ease Tuesday morning.
As with any wind event, there is the possibility of damage due to objects blowing around, and also potentially some power outages.
