[Update at 7:07 am Dec 16/25: 2,115 customers without power in the south Vancouver Island region — mostly the Gulf Island areas.]

As of 9:47 pm this evening, 6,820 BC Hydro customers are without power (99 outages) on south Vancouver Island; at 10:17 pm that count went up to 7,135 customers, and by 10:31 pm the count was 7,254.
The count was even higher by 10:37 pm, with 8,887 customers without power.
This is due mostly to rainfall and wind.
- Most of the outages are on the various Gulf Islands (Galiano, Ganges, Mayne, Pender, Saturna)
- In North Saanich there are 1,731 customers without power due to the windstorm and/or trees down over wires.
- In the Duncan/Cowichan area there are outages at more than 30 locations, with a total of about 1,080 customers without pwoer.
- In Highlands, 50 customers are without power.
- In Sooke, 97 customers are without power (Parkinson Rd area).
- In Saanich, 17 customers are without power (4400-block Cedar Hill Rd at Shelbourne, and at Glen Nevis Rd)
According to BC Hydro, the BC Ferries terminal at Swartz Bay is not impacted by the outages in North Saanich (the terminal has a different feed at Lands Eng Road and Piers Island).
