Active policing by West Shore RCMP this past weekend covered a wide range of activity.
The West Shore RCMP Traffic Unit and Frontline officers removed three impaired drivers from the road this past weekend.
Colwood:
On April 18 at approximately 1:54 am, Frontline and Traffic Unit officers responded to a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Sooke Road and Kelly Road in Colwood.

Upon arrival, officers located a black Toyota Tacoma with extensive front-end damage after it had struck a power pole.
The driver, a 47-year-old man, showed signs of alcohol impairment and was investigated for impaired driving. He was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP), and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Langford:
In Langford, officers issued an additional 90-day IRP and a 12-hour IRP in two separate unrelated impaired driving investigations.
View Royal:
Officers from the Community & Indigenous Policing Unit conducted a roadblock on Admirals Road in View Royal, checking more than 100 drivers for sobriety.
Four Notice & Orders were issued, along with six written warnings for other infractions.
Driver and more:
“The risks of impaired driving extend far beyond the person behind the wheel,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.
“So far in 2026, we have taken 44 impaired drivers off the road. Every decision to drive impaired puts members of our community in danger. Please plan a safe way home if you choose to drink,” said Cpl Saggar in a news release today.
Police ask that dangerous driving behaviour or suspect impaired driving be reported to police right away.
