West Shore RCMP have recently increased their patrols around the west shore.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday April 28 the West Shore RCMP received a call from an 18-year-old man who said he had been bear sprayed and robbed near the bus loop at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre at 1767 Island Highway in Colwood, says West Shore RCMP media rep Cst Nancy Saggar.

“Investigators answered the call and learned that the complainant was actually a suspected drug dealer who was allegedly selling Xanax pills at the time of the robbery,” says Cst Saggar in a news release. The man described being jumped by two male suspects who stole the pills and an undisclosed amount of cash.

West Shore RCMP frontline officers located the suspects a short time later after they had used the stolen money to purchase liquor. The suspects were identified as ages 15 and 19. Both were arrested. Police have seized the Xanax pills, liquor and bear spray from them. The investigation into all parties is ongoing.

West Shore RCMP says that “if you see something suspicious report it right away”.
