Thetis Lake Regional Park was closed for a short while on Thursday evening, July 10.
From about 9 pm to 10:30 pm West Shore RCMP dealt with a mental health crisis call at the park.
“Officers learned that the individual had gone into the park and was in possession of several firearms,” said Cpl Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.
The person was located at about 10:30 pm by police. “They were safely apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital for further care,” as stated by RCMP in a news release.
Numerous firearms were located and seized by police.
There were no injuries in this incident, Cpl Saggar says.
