West Shore RCMP say that on Friday March 6 shortly after 9:30 pm they received a report of a shooting that took place outdoors near the 800-block of Arncote Avenue in Langford.

Police say they arrived on scene to find a 40-year-old woman who had been shot and later succumbed to her injuries. The suspect who was identified as a 35-year-old man left the scene prior to police arrival in a vehicle. The Vancouver Island Emergency Response team were mobilized to look for the suspect.

At approximately 9:30 am this morning Saturday March 7 the suspect and vehicle were located by the Saanich Police Department K-9 unit. The suspect was safely brought into custody, says RCMP Media Relations Officer Nancy Saggar.

In social media the woman has been identified as Angela Dalman, who is a mother and west shore resident.

Police believe this was an isolated crime and there is no risk to public safety at this time.

West Shore RCMP says that as they and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit are continuing their investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
