West Shore RCMP: incident in 700-block Walfred Rd

This past weekend West Shore RCMP responded to a report of an assault at a home near the 700-block of Walfred Road in Langford.

Police responded at approximately 7:30 am on Saturday Feb 25 the West Shore RCMP responded to the report.

“Police responded immediately however the suspect fled on foot prior to police arrival,” says Cpl Nancy Saggar, Media Relations, West Shore RCMP.

“Police believed the suspect was in possession of a firearm and was in the forested area between Walfred Road and Latoria Road. There was a heavy police presence in this area as officers set up containment to track the suspect,” said Cpl Saggar in a news release.

West Shore RCMP says that their officers along with officers from the Emergency Police Response Team, West Shore Police Dog Service and Air support from RCMP Air 1, worked together to locate the suspect.

The suspect was located and arrested and as of February 25 was in police custody.

“We thank the public for their patience and for avoiding the area while we worked. The investigation is ongoing and there will be no further comments at this time,” says Cpl Saggar.
