Work of the West Shore RCMP Drug and Organized Crime Unit continues.
Yesterday they announced that a few months ago, in February 2023, they conducted enforcement on several suspects involved in a drug trafficking operation.
The unit was investigating reports of drug trafficking in the West Shore which lead them to uncovering a large quantity of drugs and money along with a stick of dynamite.
Langford and Victoria:
Drug and Organized Crime Unit officers executed two search warrants for residences in Langford and Victoria with assistance from the Greater Victoria and RCMP Emergency Response Teams, the Victoria Police Department and Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.
“The drugs, money and explosive device seized in this investigation has significantly impacted the drug trade in the West Shore,” says Cpl Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.
“Hundreds of lives would have been affected and possibly lost to the overdose crisis by the sale of these drugs. We are thankful to the other agencies who assisted in this investigation,” said Cpl Kevin Pollock, West Shore RCMP Drug and Organized Crime Unit.
Drugs, guns and dynamite:
During the search of both properties police seized the following evidence of drug trafficking:
- a brick of suspected Cocaine weighing over 1 Kilogram;
- over 17 ounces of suspected Cocaine;
- over 15 ounces of suspected fentanyl packaged into over 150 individual bags ready for street sale;
- approximately 6 ounces of suspected MDMA;
- over 35 bottles of liquid syrup containing Promethazine and Codeine;
- over 1000 unidentified pills;
- over $68 000 cash;
- 2 replica hand guns;
- 1 stick of dynamite, complete with detonating cord (The dynamite was safely seized by GVERT and later disposed of in a safe manner).
Four people ages 29 to 40 (three men, one woman) were arrested for drug trafficking related offences. Charges related to drug trafficking and the explosive device are forthcoming.
“The results of this investigation demonstrate CFSEU-BC’s ability to provide specialized support to our partners in our collective efforts to suppress gang and gang-related violence in our communities,” says Sgt Brenda Winpenny, Media Relations Officer for the CFSEU-BC.
