Effective immediately today March 23, to help stop the spread of COVID-19, West Shore Parks & Recreation Society (WSPRS) is closing all of its outdoor facilities.

That includes playing fields, golf course, tennis, volleyball, basketball courts, velodrome, lawn bowling, BMX track as well as the outdoor lacrosse box and picnic shelter. The closure also includes both upper and lower park playgrounds.

WSPRS strongly recommends that the public follow appropriate protocols outlined by the Provincial Health Officer, including:

 Wash your hands frequently

 Follow coughing and sneezing guidelines

 Follow social distancing guidelines

The decision to temporarily close WSPRS outdoor facilities was made out of an abundance of caution, in response to public concerns that some playground users are not practicing social distancing as directed by B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer.

We appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding as we take measures to keep everyone safe.

WSPRS response to COVID-19 is also posted on the
