UPDATE 10 pm January 25, 2024: The problem is now resolved and the Camosun College Interurban campus will be open again on Friday January 26. Camosun College says:
“The water pipe situation has been remedied and we’re pleased to report that our Interurban campus will be open for education as normal on Friday, January 26. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding following Thursday’s unexpected interruption.”
As posted on Thursday morning:
Effective at 10:48 am today January 25, Camosun College closed their Interurban campus in Saanich due to a water outage caused by a burst water line located in Vancouver Island Tech Park (a University of Victoria venture).
There is flooding on the road.
“Please leave campus as soon as practicable. Buildings will remain open until noon for temporary shelter,” as posted on the Camosun website.
Campus has closed at noon for the remainder of the day, due to fire safety concerns.
As of 12 noon, the District of Saanich was working on a remedy with VI Tech Park, says a Camosun College media rep. “Cause unknown,” says Rodney Porter, Camosun, media relations.
As posted on the Camosun College website:
“Please leave campus as soon as practicable. Buildings will remain open until noon for temporary shelter. Check back for further updates or follow the college on social media.”
