Today one person has been arrested for arson following a fire on March 31 that destroyed a Victoria playground n a downtown park.
Members of the Victoria Police Department (VicPD) Major Crime Unit and General Investigative Section made the arrest.
VicPD is liaising with the BC Prosecution Service for approval of any charges, The suspect has been released from custody with conditions.
Further details are limited to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, say Victoria police.
Background:
Around 1:15 am on Tuesday March 31 police were contacted by the Victoria Fire Department about the fire which was involving a play structure at Stadacona Park in the 1400-block of Pandora Avenue in the downtown area.
On March 31 police said the fire was suspicious.

VicPD investigators have since canvassed the community for relevant information and images. The department’s Forensic Identification Section has also helped with documentation.
