Will Greaves, MP office has issued a statement:

Statement from MP Will Greaves on Remembrance Day

As Canadians prepare to observe Remembrance Day, we honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who have worn the uniform of our country: at home, across the Americas, and around the world. This year’s commemoration highlights Canada’s enduring contributions to peace and security across our hemisphere — from the liberation of Europe to humanitarian and peacekeeping efforts close to home. Wherever they have served, Canadian women and men in uniform have embodied the values of duty, compassion, and courage.”

“We pause to reflect on the impact of all wars, the importance of peacekeeping, and the enduring need for reconciliation among nations. It is a moment for our global community to come together in gratitude for the courage of those who served in the Armed Forces and paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we hold today.”

“Remembrance Day is a call to peace, where we work together towards creating a world where conflicts and wars are replaced with diplomacy and cooperation. I want to share personal thanks to members of the Canadian Armed Forces here in Victoria, their families and their loved ones for everything you have given our community. And I also want to acknowledge the important work that the Royal Canadian Legion does to support our veterans and their families.”

Service by many:

Since Confederation, more than 2.3 million Canadians have served in the Armed Forces, and over 118,000 are commemorated in the Books of Remembrance on Parliament Hill.

“Today, we honour their memory and the values they defended — democracy, freedom, and justice,” says Greaves.

Rodney Boskovitch, CD, President, Public Service Branch #127, Royal Canadian Legion, added: “Today marks the most important day for the Legion—one where we commemorate the bravery and dedication of our service men and women. May we all reflect upon their sacrifices and mark this day as a reminder of the values of democracy, freedom, and justice.”
