Vancouver Island has seen 141 test-positive cases for COVID-19 during the pandemic to date (July 22). Today there was one new case within that total.

Presently no one on Vancouver Island is in hospital with a COVID-19 infection. The total of persons who have recovered is 128.

There have been five COVID-related deaths on Vancouver Island.

  • The age distribution of cases on Vancouver Island shows no test-positive cases for any children under the age of 10. In the 10 to 19 age group, their have been eight youth and teens affected.
  • In the young adult set who may still be actively socializing this summer, there have been 16 cases on Vancouver Island (20-29 age group).
  • In the middle age working group of age 30 to 59, there have been 67 cases during the pandemic to date on Vancouver Island (23 of ages 30 to 39, 21 of ages 40 to 49, and 23 in the 50-59 age group).
  • Seniors in the generally active and healthy 60 to 69 year age group, there have been 18 cases on Vancouver Island.
  • Older senior age groups (including the generally hard-hit long term care home sector) have tallied 23 cases in the 70 to 79 age group, and eight cases in the 80 to 89 age bracket.
  • One person age 90+ has tested positive for COVID-19 within the Island Health Authority area.
