This evening US President Donald Trump addressed Americans and the world to officially announce that three nuclear sites in Iran were bombed on Saturday evening.
Bunker-busting bombs were dropped on three sites in Iran — Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan — as part of the US strategy to end the ability of Iran to develop a nuclear bomb.
Trump says this is now a time for peace. But tonight’s military action could also spark a wider regional conflict.
“Iran the bully of the middle east must now make peace,” said Trump in his remarks that lasted about three minutes.
Trump was accompanied at the podium by Vice President JD Vance, United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
“All planes are safely on their way home,” said Trump tonight in a live televised addressed as he thanked the US military and also God.
Israel has congratulated Trump on taking the action to stop Iran after 40 years of “death to America” terrorism which has included funding and training a range of terrorist organizations including Hamas.
“America has been truly unsurpassed,” said Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in televised remarks this evening. “The forces of civilization thank you,” said Netanyahu to Trump in his televised statement.
This now involves the US directly in the 10-day war that Israel has been waging against Iran with strategic military attacks. Trump said this evening that he has been working “as a team” with Netanyahu.

United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will hold a press conference from the Pentagon at 8 am ET (5 am PT) on Sunday June 22.
