TRAFFIC ADVISORY for REMEMBRANCE DAY 2018

West Shore RCMP have issued a traffic advisory for traffic disruptions during the course of the 2018 Remembrance Day ceremonies held at Veterans Memorial Park in Langford.

At 10 am a parade of veterans, police, fire and emergency services personnel, cadets Girl Guides, Scouts and other groups will march from the Langford Legion to Veterans Memorial Park. That will be followed at 11 am with two minutes of silence and the laying of wreaths at the cenotaph.

For all that, there will be road closures to vehicle traffic for the duration of the ceremonies from 10 am to 12 noon, affecting the following:

• Peatt Rd / Station Ave
• Veterans Memorial Pkwy / Station Ave
• Goldstream Ave / Veterans Memorial Pkwy
• Goldstream Ave / Aldwyn Rd
• Aldwyn Rd / Fairway Ave
• Veterans Memorial Pkwy / Hagel Rd / Meaford Ave

The full community is invited to attend the Remembrance Day ceremony.  Last year about 1,000 people attended the outdoor event. There is not a lot of cover for rain.

Pedestrian arrival is encouraged, as parking is limited in the area surrounding Veterans Memorial Park (which is at the corner of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Goldstream Avenue).

The ceremony will be followed by an open house at the Legion at 761 Station Avenue.
