There will be a totem pole unveiling in View Royal On Saturday May 28.
The public open public invitation shows the event starting at 11 am at the View Royal Public Safety Building, 333 Island Highway.
The custom totem pole by master carver Tom LaFortune will be unveiled by Chief Ron Sam (Songhees Nation), Chief Rob Thomas (Esquimalt Nation), Master Carver Tom LaFortune (Tsawout First Nation), Rick Peter and Bub Qwulshemut from Khowutzen (members of Khowutzun Tzinquaw Dance Group), View Royal Mayor David Screech, and View Royal Fire Rescue Chief Paul Hurst.
“This is a tangible demonstration and commitment of friendship, respect and honour between the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, the Town of View Royal and View Royal Fire Rescue,” it was stated in the public invitation.
