Summer in BC is well underway despite a bit of rainy weather in the last few days.
Camping activity usually starts ramping up over the May long weekend (third weekend in May), during June as part of grad season, and certainly from Canada Day at the beginning of July through to Labour Day at the beginning of September.
On the BC Parks website, frontcountry campsite reservations can be made up to four (4) months in advance of arrival date. Reservations are made in real-time which requires a credit card.
Reservation policies for frontcountry and backcountry camping are posted on the BC Parks website.
Camping tips:
Camping is fun for many people but some know-how helps reduce risks during a camping tip. There is a Camping 101 video on the BC Parks website, as a refresher about camping safety and related tips.
Advisories:
Before visiting any of the BC Parks, it is recommended to check the active park advisories to find park specific details on park closures, warnings, health and safety and other important information.
Be wildfire smart:
When out camping, everyone should be aware of how their activities might end up producing a ‘human caused’ fire. It’s more than about campfires. Equipment and machinery can produce sparks that can start fires in dry brush areas.
Vehicles and ATVs should not be started in dry areas.
