Sooke Fire Rescue has been awarded $28,351 in provincial funding through the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF) for Volunteer and Composite Fire Departments.
The funding will be used to purchase new hoses and racks, enhancing the department’s emergency response capabilities and ensuring firefighters have the necessary equipment to protect the community, says the District of Sooke.

“This funding allows us to replace and upgrade critical firefighting equipment, ensuring that our volunteer and composite members have the tools they need to respond effectively in emergencies,” says Deputy Fire Chief Chris McCrea.
“Investments like this directly contribute to the safety and resilience of our community,” says McCrea.

Administered by the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM), the CEPF provides financial support to local governments, First Nations, and other eligible applicants to improve emergency preparedness and response efforts.
This latest funding stream focuses on volunteer and composite fire departments, which play a vital role in fire protection and emergency response across British Columbia.
The District of Sooke is pleased about this investment in local emergency services.
Fire departments in the same region have also received provincial funding:
- Metchosin – $39.635.76 for a hose equipment upgrade and replacement project
