Canada Post rates are going up January 14, 2019 for the first time since March 31, 2014 (as first announced June 21, 2018).
Stamps for regular first class mail under 30 grams (if purchased in a booklet, coil or pane) will cost 90¢ each (up from 85¢), or $1.05 for single-purchase (up from $1).
Mail to the USA and international destinations will also cost more, as well as domestic Registered Mail.
Individuals and small business still rely on aspects of postal mail within the economy while larger businesses (such as utilities and banks) have worked hard in recent years to shift their customers over to digital and paperless billing and statements.
Avoid the postage stamp price increases by purchasing Permanent stamps at the current rate before the new rates take effect, says Canada Post.
In the 12-year Chinese zodiac cycle, a new Year of the Pig stamp will be issued Feb 5, 2019.
