Starting Monday February 9, BC Hydro will be doing tree removal along Highway 14 (Sooke Road) between Humpback/Woodruff Road and Kangaroo Road.
The work is expected to take approximately three weeks in that curvy stretch of highway.

The schedule may extend depending on weather conditions, site constraints, or other operational requirements, says BC Hydro.
Drivers are asked to observe the safe speed limit in work zones and follow the directions of the flaggers.
Pole and line replacement later this year:
This work is part of system improvement work planned for later this year, says BC Hydro Vancouver Island community relations Ted Olynyk.
That work will be about replacing aging poles and lines in the area.
Avoiding morning/evening commuter times:
“While we will not be impacting rush-hour traffic, the work will require lane usage during the hours of 9 am to 2 pm,” says Olynyk.
“There may be times when work extends beyond this window and BC Hydro will do its best to communicate when this is required,” he says.
Reduced lanes:
Reduces lane availability for road traffic are outlined as:
- In areas where the road is double-lane, traffic will operate as single-lane alternating.
- In areas with three lanes, two lanes will remain open for traffic.
To keep drivers informed, electronic message boards will be installed at key locations.
Sooke-region impact:
“We regret the inconvenience, but the work is required to help us improve the system that serves Sooke and the surrounding area,” says BC Hydro in a statement today.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete this work safely.
Many Sooke residents work in other parts of Greater Victoria, taking a daily commute.
