Update August 18, 2025: Pedestrian impacted in the August 14 incident has died.
Today around 10:30 am, West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a collision on Admirals Road at Maple Bank, in Esquimalt Nation lands (between View Royal and Esquimalt).
The collision involved a white GMC Savana van which had struck a pedestrian at that location. Emergency crews were on scene.
West Shore RCMP fraffic unit and frontline officers attended and shut down the intersection, causing traffic backups in Esquimalt and View Royal.
The intersection will remain closed for a few hours, said RCMP just before 1 pm today. That’s so the RCMP traffic reconstructionist can do their work.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
Police are seeking any dash camera video that people may have, if having traveled near Admirals Road and Maple Bank Road between 10:15 am and 10:40 am. Contact West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
