Earthquake preparedness:

Earthquake news is always a reminder to keep assembling and fortifying your emergency kit and go-bags for each member of your family.

Preview your house to know where there are door frames and tables under which you can stand or huddle.

Have an emergency plan that all family members are aware of.

Drop, Cover & Hold On:

The most important thing to remember during an earthquake is to Drop, Cover and Hold On:

drop, cover and hold on, earthquake, drill
Practice your response to Drop, Cover and Hold On.
  • DROP to the ground (before the earthquake drops you!)
  • Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk or table (or against a wall with your arms covering your head/neck), and
  • HOLD ON to your shelter and be prepared to move with it until the shaking stops.
