The newest Scotiabank Branch on South Vancouver Island had a soft opening on February 19 in their location at Belmont Market in Langford. It’s not been too busy yet, but people are finding the branch and doing business there.

This week a mailer went out to local homes offering a special $300 bonus offer for opening an eligible chequing account at the new branch at 3004 Merchant Way in the mall at the corner of Jacklin Road and Kelly Road. “We’re new to the neighbourhood and we’d like to celebrate” is the theme.

The next nearest Scotiabank branch is in Colwood on Kelly Road (Hatley Park branch).

This new location offers Langford residents who are Scotiabank customers the convenience of a local branch.

The spacious branch layout includes three teller wickets, two reception desks, two meeting rooms and waiting area with big screen TV. Staff have a teamwork area in the back.

There are two Automated Banking Machines (ABMs) in the front lobby area.

Scotiabank’s new ABMs do not require envelopes for making deposits; this help clear cash deposits right away because the machine can read the bills. One of the machines offers cash in four denominations: $5, $20, $50 and $100.

There is plenty of mall parking. That’s a treat for financial institutions that are often found in locations where parking is limited.

A higher profile opening for the Belmont Market branch will be held in the spring as more stores and services become open in the new Belmont Market mall which is various stages of construction.
