===== As posted October 19, 2022:

South Vancouver Island is about to see a big weather shift.

Rain in the Environment Canada forecast for Friday October 21 for Greater Victoria will usher in a period of several rainy days.

This will put something of an end to the three-and-half-month drought that has mounted since the last rainfall of any significance back on July 7 in the Greater Victoria and south Vancouver Island area.

Daytime temperatures will also fall significantly from the summer-like weather that the south island region has been enjoyed deep into October.

Friday’s high is forecast as 11°C with a low of 8°C, holding at a high of 11°C for Saturday, then hovering in the 12°C to 13°C range for Sunday through Tuesday.

The extended warmer weather has been a boon for some agricultural sectors and back-yard gardeners.

But extended drought has hardened the soil and may lead to conditions of flooding if rain can’t be absorbed quickly enough in the coming days.
