Prime Minister Mark Carney will be in Tumbler Ridge tomorrow, Friday February 13, at the invitation of Tumbler Ridge Mayor Darryl Krakowka.
This follows his House of Commons tribute to the victims and families impacted by the Tumbler Ridge shooting.
A shooter killed eight people (and then took her own life), resulting in nine dead including her mother and brother, a teacher, and five students at Tumbler Ridge Secondary.
Two students remain in hospital from injuries resulting from the February 10 shooting.
Carney cancelled his previous schedule of February 11 (a defence announcement then a trip to Germany) once hearing about the shooting on Tuesday.
Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree and Housing and Infrastructure Minister Gregor Robertson arrived in Tumbler Ridge yesterday.
Today at 2 pm, BC Lieutenant Governor Wendy Cocchia will deliver a speech in Victoria as a tribute to the Tumbler Ridge victims and community.
Eby on the ground:
BC Premier David Eby and Minister of Public Safety Nina Krieger were in Tumbler Ridge last night to meet with people impacted by yesterday’s school shooting tragedy.
They met with community leadership and officials on the ground and attended an outdoor vigil.
