On what will be Wednesday March 4 in Australia (19 hours ahead of Pacific Time) – starting around 8:30 am in Sydney Australia (which will be about 1:30 pm in BC on Tuesday March 3), Prime Minister Mark Carney will attend a signing ceremony, then hold a media availability, and then witness a signing ceremony.
Later in the evening (6 pm Sydney time on Wednesday, i.e. 11 pm Pacific Time in BC), Carney will take part in a featured conversation at the Lowy Institute — an independent, nonpartisan international policy think tank.
Carney is on a three-country trade mission (during February 26 to March 7) that started with a couple of days in India before arriving in Australia.
After his program in Australia he will then head to Japan. He is accompanied by various of his cabinet ministers and a couple of provincial premiers as part of a rigorous effort to build diversified trade relationships in countries other than the United States.
The stated federal government goal is to have 50 percent of Canada’s trade happening with countries other than the US by 2030.
