Premier John Horgan visited at Camp Barnard today, within his Langford-Juan de Fuca Constituency, out past Sooke in Otter Point.

He addressed the Scouts Canada Pacific Jamboree at Camp Barnard this morning, July 6. It’s been only about two weeks since a young camper died under a fallen tree at the camp while on a school camping field trip.

Campers have arrived from far and wide (around the globe) for the annual summer Jamboree, this year with the theme “Myths and Legends”, running July 6 to 13.

The annual camping event is also a good tourism boost for the Sooke area, with families visiting the local shops, restaurants, and outdoor recreational activities.
