Update 1:45 am: South Vancouver Island power outage count is 10,263 at 1:45 am including Highlands, North Saanich, Duncan and Pender Island.
Update 11:15 am: As at 11:15 am there are 1,838 customers without power in the South Vancouver Island Region (now sunny, dry, non-windy conditions), including:
- 1,157 in Langford (Glen Lake/Luxton area) – (off since 10:08 pm Dec 5); crew estimated for 8:15 am Dec 6 / may be on site as of 9:42 am / power still out as at 12:57 pm
- 115 in Duncan – crew assigned or on their way
- 235 on Ganges Island – crew on their way
- 288 in North Saanich – crew assigned or on site
- 50 in Saanich (small scattered outages) – crew assigned
- 7 in Sooke (6200-block) – crew eta 11:30 am
Update 1:31 pm: As crews make progress, at 12:57 there are 1,661 BC Hydro customers without power in a mix of the above-noted areas.
Update 2 pm: Power back on for the Glen Lake/Luxton area of Langford at 1:45 pm.

Across South Vancouver Island in the wee hours of Saturday December 6 there are 9,037 BC Hydro customers without power.
It’s a windy, rainy night. The cause of the outages is listed as either ‘Tree down across our wires’ or ‘under investigation’.
Most of the addresses without electricity at 1:00 am are in the Colwood, Langford, Metchosin and Sooke areas as well as the Hillside area of Saanich.
West shore/Latoria area:
In the Glen Lake, Luxton, Happy Valley and Latoria areas of Langford and Colwood there are 6,636 customers without power as of 1 am.
At this early hour, crews have been assigned to about half of the impact area (where power has been out since 10:09 pm Friday night).
Also 1,087 customers are without power in the Oaklands/Hillside area of Saanich.

A few locations in Sooke are without power, impacting 1,156 BC Hydro customers.
Started Friday afternoon:
Last night around dinner time there were 3,054 customers without power in the Royal Bay/Colwood and Metchosin areas in an outage that started just ahead of 3 pm.
Weather forecast:
Environment Canada’s forecast for the Victoria area is wind southwest at 40 km/h gusting to 60 km/h — gusting to 80 km/h near the Juan de Fuca Strait.
Temperature: Friday night low 9°C with a high of 11°C on Saturday (not much change).
