FEB 3 COUNCIL MEETING POSTPONED DUE TO SNOW FALL WARNING
The District of Metchosin has a land use designation called ‘Village Centre’.
The designation includes supportive mapping, policies, objectives and a development permit area for properties in the Village Centre.
The village centre is a tight land area covering all four corners of Happy Valley Road and Metchosin Road.
Upcoming council meeting:
At the February 3, 2025 meeting of District of Metchosin council, if approved by council, Metchosin Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 693 (part of the 2010 OCP) will update the original Bylaw 565 to introduce a new “Village” land use designation, with supporting mapping, policies, objectives and a development permit area for properties in the Village Centre.
Bylaw 693 introduces minor housekeeping amendments such as clarification regarding maps, updated references to legislation, and minor changes to the drafting language to improve clarity.
The properties shaded on the map are affected by Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 693.
- The seven properties in Metchosin’s Village Centre that were currently designated commercial in the OCP will have that designation changed to a Village designation that permits a wider range of uses and mixed use, rather than just commercial use.
- Three sites that are currently designated Agriculture in the OCP (adjacent to commercial sites) will be changed to reflect the Village designation: 4347 Metchosin Rd, 4409 William Head Rd, 4460 Happy Valley Rd.
ALR & public hearing:
There will be a public hearing at the February 3 meeting.
Endorsement of Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 693 has been received from the Agricultural Land Commission.
