In North Saanich on the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island, Glynnwood Park Road provides access to Briarwood Beach, a popular destination for residents during the summer for its easy access, beautiful beaches, and warm summer waters

To improve emergency access and create safer roadside parking for peak summer traffic, construction will take place on Glynnwood Park Road from Glenelg Avenue to 9755 Glynnwood Park Road.

Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday July 14.

Wider road, better drainage:

The District will be widening the road by about 1 to 1.5 metres as well as improving drainage. Work is expected to continue through August 15, 2025.

Those changes will make it easier for emergency vehicles to access the road and also provide safer roadside parking during heavy summer use – and make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

Langford public engagement about environmental development and natural areas

Temporary parking will be available along Glenelg Avenue and Ardmore Drive.

Once construction begins, the road will be restricted to alternating one lane traffic. Expect minor delays.

Archaeological protection:

A portion of the site is adjacent an archaeological protection area. The District engaged Millennia Research Limited to conduct hand testing prior to construction, so as to meet the requirements of an Archaeologist Impact Assessment (AIA) under the Heritage Conservation Act (HCA).
