Phase 2 pubic input is open on two key areas of municipal master planning and strategy in Langford.
Online surveys are still open open for:
- Parks and Trails Master Plan – approximately 20 minutes to complete – to 11:59 pm November 9, 2025
- Transportation and Active Transportation Master Plan – 18 questions divided into 4 sections – open to 11:59 pm November 18, 2025
Both survey are online at LetsChatLangford.
Transportation survey:
- The Transportation Master Plan will be Langford’s first official guide for long-term planning and development of the city’s transportation network.
- The *Active Transportation Plan will be developed alongside the TMP and will focus on providing greater choices for walking, rolling, and cycling around the community. An ATP will help to reduce the growing pressure and congestion on the existing road network.
- Active transportation refers to any form of human-powered transportation, including walking, cycling, or rolling using a wheelchair, skateboard, in-line skates, or other wheel-based forms of human-powered transportation.
Parks & Trails Survey:
The first phase of community engagement took place from March 14, 2025, to April 27, 2025. Results from that survey showed that most people visit city parks “to enjoy and connect with nature” (72%), followed by for “mental health and wellness: (63%), and “physical activity/exercise” (60%).
The Phase 2 survey is open to November 9, 2025 to residents as well as frequent visitors, occasional explorers to the area, or new to the area and eager to learn more, we value your ideas and suggestions.
The first element of the parks and trails master plan is a clear definition of the vision for the city’s parks and trails system. The proposed vision for the Parks and Trails program is to:
“Shape a vibrant, inclusive, resilient and well-managed parks and trails network that enhances well-being, connects people to nature and community, protects and restores ecosystems, and fuels Langford’s social and economic vitality.”
The Parks & Trails Master Plan will determine how the current parks and trails system is meeting the needs of residents today, explore what could be enhanced, and to plan for the future.
Guiding Principles are the beliefs and values that shape consistent decisions about the parks and trails system. The following guiding principles have been drafted:
- Equitable, Accessible, and Inclusive
- Excellence in Service, Design, and Delivery
- Committed to the Public Good
- Innovative, Data-Informed, and Evidence-Based
- Sustainably and Adaptively Managed
- Transparent, Accountable and Community Informed
Once completed, the Plan will guide future decisions about the acquisition, development, features, enhancements, and management of the City’s parks and trails system for the next 10 years and beyond.
The Parks and Trails Master Plan is focused only on City parks and trails (Centennial Park, Ed Nixon Trail), not Capital Regional District or Provincial parks and trails (Mill Hill Regional Park, Goldstream Provincial Park, Galloping Goose Trail).
Ideas Fair on October 18 was well attended:
This online feedback opportunity comes following the city’s second Ideas Fair (open house) held on October 18.

Plans currently under development were identified as specific objectives in Langford Council’s 2023-2027 Strategic Plan.
