October’s full moon is coming up on Monday October 6 at 8:48 pm PT.
It will be the largest and brightest full moon of 2025.
The October full moon will be the first Supermoon of 2025 (the last one was 11 months ago in November 2024) and comes just ahead of this year’s Thanksgiving long weekend (which runs Saturday October 11 through Monday October 13).
The term Supermoon refers to any new or full moon that occurs when it is within 90 percent of its closest approach to Earth, known as its perigee.
Harvest Moon:
It’s the latest date for the Harvest Moon in nearly 40 years — the last one this late into October was on October 7, 1987.
The Harvest Moon refers to the full moon that is closest to the autumnal equinox (which was on September 22 this year).
