Thursday, October 18 ~ LANGFORD.

Not quite yet a household name in Langford, long-time Langford resident and committee member around city hall Norma Stewart has been handpicked along with the five incumbents for endorsement by Mayor Stew Young in this 2018 municipal election campaign.

langford, stew young, incumbentsA joint ad featuring Norma at the top left, along with long-time councillor incumbents Denise Blackwell, Matt Sahlstrom, Lanny Seaton, Lillian Szpak and Roger Wade was released in the October 12th West Shore Voice News (Langford section pages 4 to 6) and got good traction on social media this week.

Norma says she stands for ‘moving Langford forward’. She zeroes in on housing affordability, safe healthy community, and economic growth including job creation as her three main planks.

Norma has served on several Langford committees for 12 years. She says she shows leadership and has the knowledge required to cut red tape while supporting jobs, recreation and infrastructure.

Coming from a background as a dental hygienist, she enjoys connecting with people in a natural way. She told West Shore Voice News last week that “everybody has been positive, the reception is great”.

She hopes to see sports teams flourish in Langford in the next four years, and perhaps even a theatre getting built.

Councillor Lillian Szpak says she is “impressed by Norma’s ability to work collaboratively with different community members, councillors and board members”.
