Certainly not the stuff of super-windy weather that cancels ferry sailings, but today there was a power outage affecting the area near and around the BC Ferries Tsawwassen Terminal this morning, May 17.

According to BC Ferries customers on the ground, the outage resulted in booths running using generator power but that there was no food in the terminal.

The Tsawwassen terminal has the capacity to operate on generator power, so the power outage did not affect operations, said BC Ferries Seniors Communications Advisor Ceilidh Marlow in a statement to Island Social Trends today.

BC Ferries were notified at 1 pm that the power had been restored to the site, said Marlow.

BC Hydro outage:

BC Hydro shows a restored power outage that started at 3:27 am and was restored at 12:42 pm, having impacted 2,379 BC Hydro customers south of Salish Sea Way and West of 54th St. Cause of the outage was listed as ‘tree down across our wires’.

There were wind gusts from between 29 kph (18 mph) to 60 kph (37 mph) during the early morning hours at the Tsawwassen terminal according to the WindFinder website.
